The mind is like a GPS

Our mind is like a GPS. These systems are very convenient and useful. But it’s still important to keep one’s eyes wide open and look out of the window from time to time. Some people have ended up driving into a river because a bridge had gone down and the system hadn’t been updated. In the north of Europe, a truck driver got stuck in a narrow lane. He was going the right way, but the road couldn’t accommodate such a wide vehicle. And sometimes, accidents happen because the driver is too busy fiddling with the controls of the system and neglects to watch the road. What kind of events would make us suspicious that our GPS needed updating? What if we found that the GPS didn’t always get us to where we wanted to go.
