Bill C-329 – The National Framework on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Act.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common mental health conditions in Canada, affecting approximately 1.8 million Canadians. ADHD can shorten life expectancy by 13 years on average if persistent into adulthood. That is greater than the top four health conditions that we focus on as a society combined, such as obesity, alcohol use, smoking, and coronary heart disease. ADHD markedly contributes to academic and occupational failure, as well as being an underlying cause of 50% of Substance Use Disorder in Canada.

The National Framework on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Act outlines the need for investment in ADHD resources, specifically to educate medical and healthcare professionals, provide resources and education to families and individuals, along with supporting teachers. This Act will help improve the lives of Canadians living with ADHD and provide individuals and their families with much needed support.
